"A gorgeous basement epic" is what Western Vinyl says. I have to agree ; most of this sounds like a fall counterpart to the summery reverb of Pet Sounds. Dave recorded all of the instruments by himself save for a few odds and ends. Released as a Dave Longstreth album - what would later blossom into Dirty Projectors. I have to say, I have heard he is doing another solo album and find myself more excited about that than any new Dirty Projectors release.

I don't know much to say about this record that isn't on the hyper personal tip so I will keep it short.

This is Van's best, it's easily (and I cannot stress how easily) one of my favorite albums of all time. One of Eric Dolphy's Blue Note session bassist's is on here and one or two tracks features 2 flutists I think. Most everyone probably loves this album already .
